Cloud Solutions Architect

Position Summary

ITTechnica is partnering with a leading SaaS technology company to identify an experienced Cloud Solutions Architect for a remote, full-time opportunity. This role is central to the organization's cloud strategy, responsible for designing, building, and optimizing enterprise-scale cloud infrastructure that powers mission-critical SaaS platforms serving thousands of customers worldwide.

As a Cloud Solutions Architect, you will lead the architectural design and implementation of multi-cloud environments spanning AWS and Azure, leveraging Terraform for infrastructure as code, Kubernetes and Docker for containerized workloads, and Python for automation and tooling. You will be responsible for defining cloud-native best practices, driving migration strategies, and ensuring the scalability, security, and reliability of cloud infrastructure across the organization.

This is a 100% remote position available to candidates anywhere in the United States. You will work closely with engineering teams, product managers, and executive leadership to align cloud architecture with business objectives, optimize cloud spend, and establish a culture of operational excellence. The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of hands-on cloud architecture experience, a deep understanding of microservices patterns, and a passion for building resilient, high-performance distributed systems.

Key Responsibilities

As a Cloud Solutions Architect with our SaaS client, you will be expected to:

• Design and architect multi-cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure that supports high-availability, fault-tolerant SaaS applications serving enterprise customers. Define cloud reference architectures, networking topologies, and deployment patterns that ensure 99.99% uptime SLAs and seamless horizontal scalability.
• Lead infrastructure as code (IaC) initiatives using Terraform to build repeatable, version-controlled, and auditable cloud environments. Develop modular Terraform modules, establish state management practices, and implement CI/CD pipelines for automated infrastructure provisioning and configuration management.
• Architect and manage Kubernetes orchestration platforms for deploying, scaling, and managing containerized microservices. Design Helm charts, define resource quotas, implement service mesh patterns with Istio, and optimize cluster performance, cost, and security across development, staging, and production environments.
• Champion cloud-native application development practices including microservices decomposition, event-driven architectures, API gateway design, and serverless computing patterns. Collaborate with development teams to ensure applications are designed for cloud elasticity, resilience, and observability.
• Develop and maintain Python-based automation scripts and tools for cloud resource management, cost optimization, security compliance scanning, monitoring integrations, and operational runbooks. Build internal developer platforms and self-service tooling that accelerate engineering productivity.
• Implement comprehensive cloud security and compliance frameworks including IAM policies, encryption at rest and in transit, network segmentation, vulnerability management, and audit logging. Ensure all cloud infrastructure meets SOC 2, GDPR, and HIPAA requirements as applicable to the SaaS platform.
• Drive cloud cost optimization and FinOps practices by analyzing usage patterns, right-sizing resources, implementing reserved instance and savings plan strategies, and building dashboards that provide visibility into cloud spend across teams and environments.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for this Cloud Solutions Architect position:

• 8+ years of professional experience in cloud architecture, cloud engineering, or infrastructure roles, with a proven track record of designing and deploying enterprise-scale cloud solutions across AWS and Azure platforms.
• Deep expertise in Amazon Web Services (AWS) including EC2, EKS, ECS, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, CloudFront, Route 53, VPC, CloudWatch, and CloudFormation. AWS Solutions Architect Professional certification or equivalent demonstrated expertise required.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Azure including Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Functions, Azure DevOps, Azure SQL, Blob Storage, Azure Monitor, Virtual Networks, and Azure Active Directory. Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification or equivalent experience preferred.
• Expert-level Terraform experience with demonstrated ability to design modular, reusable infrastructure as code frameworks. Experience with Terraform Cloud/Enterprise, workspaces, state locking, and multi-environment deployment strategies.
• Hands-on Kubernetes and Docker experience including container orchestration, cluster management, Helm chart development, CI/CD pipeline integration, and production-grade Kubernetes operations at scale.
• Proficiency in Python programming for automation, scripting, API development, and building operational tooling. Experience with Python libraries for cloud SDKs (boto3, azure-sdk), data processing, and infrastructure management.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture patterns including service decomposition, inter-service communication (REST, gRPC, message queues), distributed tracing, circuit breakers, and saga patterns for distributed transactions.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field. Equivalent combination of education, certifications, and professional experience will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with the following additional qualifications will receive preferential consideration:

• SaaS industry experience — Previous cloud architecture roles in SaaS product companies with exposure to multi-tenant architectures, SLA-driven design, tenant isolation strategies, and high-scale data processing pipelines.
• Advanced certifications such as AWS DevOps Engineer Professional, Kubernetes Certified Administrator (CKA), Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD), HashiCorp Terraform Associate, or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect.
• Service mesh and advanced networking experience — Proficiency with Istio, Linkerd, or Consul Connect for service mesh implementations, along with advanced networking concepts including CDN optimization, DNS management, and global load balancing.
• Monitoring and observability expertise — Experience implementing comprehensive observability stacks using Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK, Datadog, or New Relic, including distributed tracing with OpenTelemetry, Jaeger, or Zipkin for microservices environments.
