DevOps Engineer

Position Summary

Our client, an enterprise healthcare technology firm, is transforming how healthcare providers manage clinical data, telehealth, and patient engagement platforms. As a DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining high-availability infrastructure, automating software delivery, and enabling secure, compliant deployments in a highly regulated environment.

This is a long-term contract engagement with opportunities for extension, working fully remote within the United States. You will collaborate with experienced platform engineering and SRE teams to reduce release friction, improve observability, and keep deployment pipelines fast, stable, and auditable.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitLab CI to support automated build, test, and deployment across multiple environments.
• Provision and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS and GCP using Terraform, implementing reusable modules and consistent tagging, naming, and IAM policies.
• Automate configuration management and application deployments with Ansible, ensuring consistency across development, staging, and production environments.
• Operate and scale containerized workloads on Kubernetes, including Helm chart management, cluster upgrades, autoscaling, and resource optimization.
• Implement infrastructure monitoring, logging, and alerting using observability tooling to ensure SLA-level uptime and proactive issue detection.
• Collaborate with security and compliance teams to enforce HIPAA-aligned security best practices, secrets management, and audit logging across the delivery pipeline.
• Partner with software engineering teams to improve deployment velocity, reduce failure rates, and champion a culture of DevOps, automation, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or cloud infrastructure engineering roles.
• Strong hands-on experience with CI/CD automation tools such as Jenkins and GitLab CI, including pipeline-as-code best practices.
• Deep expertise in Terraform for infrastructure as code and Ansible for configuration management and automation.
• Production experience with Kubernetes and containerization (Docker), including deployments, services, ingress, and cluster lifecycle management.
• Solid working knowledge of AWS and GCP cloud platforms, including compute, networking, storage, IAM, and managed services.
• Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or similar for automation and tooling.
• Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and cross-functional communication skills in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

• Experience in the healthcare industry or working within HIPAA-compliant, regulated cloud environments.
• AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or Google Cloud Professional DevOps Engineer certification.
• Experience with observability platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or the ELK stack.
• Familiarity with service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio), Helm, ArgoCD, or GitOps workflows.
